    Posted: July 13 2007 at 12:30pm

The forum has been up and running for sometime with over 300 members, 3500+ posts and 300+ topics.  I believe we have a good thing going here, but like my skiing it always has room for improvement.  We would like your input as to what you think will make it better, what can we add, get rid of, etc.  I'll not say we can do everything but we would really like to keep this moving in a positive direction.  So be gentle, but let's hear your suggestions.

By the way, when you see Joe Lovato at any of the Western Region tournaments, be sure to thank him for his endless support behind the scenes making this all work technically.  It's no small task! Thank you Joe.

Hey Dan,

I like what you guys have done on this forum. Some topics that I would be interested in knowing more about, would be: How to/checklist to organinzing a local tournament, How to/advice on forming a ski club, How to set up a ski/judging clinic.

Thanks - PJ Nassar

Would like to see a way to add jpg's, tiff's and AVI's into our post and messages.

Maybe make a gallery section to put them into, if nothing else.
That's a pretty easy thing to do ...

Hi Dan,
Thanks for your suggestion. Currently there is not a method to send a message when an inbox is filled up.
The private message limit per member was set to 40, I have increased this to 999 (the highest option available). We have the server space so why not.

Thanks again!

Love the site but thought I'd notify someone that there are a few things that were working that are currently not working, possibly due to some changes (at least they're not working for me):

- The trick points link is missing (pretty sure it was under "Rules-Records" link from main page). The "Start Tricks" link shows point values for BF starts but I couldn't find the trick points. Maybe it was relocated or perhaps there are new tricks being added?

- The "scores/FindSkier.asp" link gives the following errors:

Active Server Pages error 'ASP 0131'

Disallowed Parent Path

/Scores/findskier.asp, line 60

The Include file '../_fpclass/fpdblib.inc' cannot contain '..' to indicate the parent directory.

- The "Tournament Kit" link gives the HTTP 404 error (page not found).

James,  The links you refer to are on the ABC web site, not the forum.  That's a whole separate web site/ web master.  But, I'll forward it on to Brian Heeney.  Thanks for the heads up.   By the way, there is a link to the rule book on the ABC site and it DOES have the table wit hall the trick values in it.  Since those change on a yearly basis it seems, that would be the best source.

Is something wrong with the western region section?
I have not been able to go in there for a month or more...I get some codes and stuff but nothing opens up like it used to.

Hi Andy,
The western pages are fixed.
The web host upgraded the servers and broke all of the web pages pointing to the database.
Most are fixed except for the Entry Page.

Thanks for inquiring.

I can log in and check new post but when I go to post it logs me out as well. I just copy what I post before I hit Post reply just in case I have to relogin.

Yeah DMJ I shoulda learned the first time it swallowed my post to right click and copy so you can login again and post what you typed...I am pretty sure this problem is affecting traffic on the site negatively.

Andy,
Thanks for the suggestion!
I have extended the session time out from 20 minutes to 240 minutes (4 hours).
It wasn't an easy place to find which is why it took a little while to fix.

Thanks again.

I think it might be something else since I was not on but a few minutes if that, It logs me out upon trying to post if I typed for more than a couple minutes...I was never even close to 20 minutes.

It just logged me out upon posting this message

Not trying to be a pain or anything.

It has now let me do 2 edits without logging out.

Must be a different problem.
What internet browser are you using?
1.) Try clicking on 'delete cookies from this page' at the bottom of a forum.
       a. This will immediately log you out.
       b. Instead of using the 'Quick Login' try clicking on the 'Login' button.
2.) Go to your profile settings and select 'Keep me logged in'

Sorry for the inconvenience. I can see how frustrating that must be.

Joe

Joe,

I too am having problems getting logged out from the forum. I used to never have to log in, now I have to login every few minutes, no where close to the 240 minutes you mentioned that it should be.

My main problem is that since I never logged in, I forgot my password, when I sent in for a new password, the system generated a generic password and when I try to change it, I get an error stating:
Error

I have tried deleting the cookies as you described but still having the problems described.

Pro clinics:  I don't always have time to go to Florida and frankly, sometimes I don't want to burn vacation time recovering in a Winterhaven hotel.  In the past I've tried to hit every traveling pro for their clinic schedule but they never know until the last minute.  Clinic organizers are always worried about filling spots to cover the costs.  When I'm aware of a clinic and it's in a place I'd like to visit, pulling the trigger is easy.

I realize you have to get a lot of different sources coordinated to post a consistant and reliable schedule.  My thought is making it as easy as possibile for an organizer to advertise a planned clinic in one centralized place accessible by all who care.  Even if dates are "tentative" it would be a place to start.  Kind of like "find a footer" it could be "find a clinic".  An organizer could post on a calendar the basics: Coach, organizer, location, dates, email, phone.  After that - skier is on his/her own to follow up.

Just a though.  I've slummed many a clinic over the years and met some really cool skiers in some really neat places.  It's just a real pain to track these guys down.

I agree that it would be a good idea for a centralized location to find out about the traveling clinics. Perhaps we should start a new thread and clinic organizers could post their dates for everyone to see. As a clinic organizer, I agree that sometimes it can be hard to fill spots so I am all for it.

I'll start it off

FYI,

there is a Dave Small clinic in California the week of June 15th thru 19th, $120 a day
It will be at the private awesome ski lake Diablo Shores so water will be flat, clean and all yours. we are also trying to drum up enough interest in the North Delta near Sacramento to bring him up for a day or two, there will be a jump.

Best just call Dave Small 407-601-8351

I will post this elsewhere too...under announcements
