Hi there. I'm after a few tips for getting kids off the boom. My son is 6 years and is solid on the boom, tumbling up and one foots but struggles getting the deepy going.

what do you guys reckon is the best next step. persevere with short rope deepies? or maybe try tumble ups? was even contemplating using a wakeskate to sit on?

My 9 year old daughter is the same.. she would be fine long line but cant do a deepy?

Thanks in advance.

Have ya considered wrapping the short rope around the boom a bunch of times so only a little bit of the handle is hanging off? I would approach it this way with someonewho is solid on just the boom and looking to move onto the short rope. There really is no reason why you have to make the jump all the way out, just make the short rope really short and gradually unwrap it as he gets more stable.

Yes thats a good idea and will get them going on their feet and a tumble up. Still not really sure on getting the deep start going im not sure if they lack the core strength to lazy boy sit?

You can start with doing deeps on the boom and a foot on the cables.

When teaching shortline deep ups, it is best to only have one foot on the line. This is much more stable.

Shoot some video and post. We can give some hints to help.

I would not be in any hurry to get them off of the boom...let things progress keep it fun...can they hop? Do one foots at will both sides and hops without any catching?
This is the life!

Good call. Yeah they are mucking around with 1 foots, but they could definitely improve and get their stance perfect... the longer they go without a proper fall the better as well : )

They are the ones asking to learn deepies : )  which is a good sign.. I'll let them keep going trying to ride on their bums get used to it. . that6 was the scariest bit when I learnt haha

I would say find some of the Aussie pros, but they are all here in America enjoying our summer. :)

Track down Oscar "Foot" Mann or Pete O'Neill(Mulwala Waterski Pro Shop)
