Thanks guys. The new Barefooter decals are cool. Actually, I wasn't too hot about the old ones so I asked for a set of Bareffoter decals and a set of Sanger decals and asked to put them on myself. I was going to put the Sanger decals on the boat and the barefooter decals on my truck. Finally when I saw the new decals, I did the opposite. ![]() Actually the color is not all black. It has a charcoal metalflake flame design on it. It is pretty discrete (what I wanted) when not in direct sunlight, put when the reflection for the sun on the waves boy does it sparkle! Here is a closer picture.
I didn't have any waterspots issues on my previous Black and White response (see previous post 11) I hope this one is no different. Don't know if it is the water quality or the fact that it does not sit in the water more than 12 hours at a time (covered boatllift)?
Unlike sledhead, I had a great experience. I went trough the Eastern Canada dealer (www.lemerryclub.com) who were very cooperative. I had a great experience.
I had asked to have it shrink wrapped and I was to prepare it myself when I signed the contract because I am 4 hours away and did not want the boat to be all dirty when I got to the cottage. Plus I like doing it myself, I am sure of what is done and it gets me to go trough the boat thoroughly to see if anything was wrong. I had only minor issues, which I think is normal since I prepared it myself (the dealer would have probably caught them). Nothing compared to when I got my Malibu ...
There was not debris except dust and I found way under the floor (I am a bit anal about cleaning my boats...) a small piece of stud which seems to have been trimmed off.
Overall I am very satisfied and impressed by the Sanger craftmanship. And boy is the solid. When I hit my first set of rollers at around 36MPH, I clinched my teeth and tightned my |ass| thinking there was going to be a lot of rattle and to my surprise, the only thing that rattled was the pin on my boom mount that I had left on there. Here is one with the flash that shows the contrast in direct light. I will try to get one on a sunny day (if one ever comes...) along with the SFH installed on it. (That was kindly lended to me by Richard Gray to be used at the Canadian Nationals since this will be the official tow boat).

Thanks. I got 48MPH on the GPS alone in the boat with my 13 x 13 Acme at 4700rpm. I changed prop for a 13 x 12.625 ACME for the Canadian Nationals this past weekend (this was the official towboat) and got 46.3MPH with crew of 5 and footer in tow. Did not notice the rpm. I will check this weekend before I put my 13 x 13 back on.

Papaski,
Nice Barefoot Sanger; mine is a 1992 with a 1994 Mercury 200hp XRi. It looks like I have the same motor as you do. How many hours do you have on yours? Mine has 460 hours and I just had to remove the oil injection pump last summer due to the gear on the crankshaft failing. Edited by I12 Foot - March 04 2009 at 1:08am |

I12 Foot,
Thanks for the compliment on the OB. It is a 1994 motor so they would be identical. I actually do not have that boat anymore but I wish I did. It had 530 hours on it when I sold it to a slalom skier in San Diego. It already had the oil injection removed when I bought it. Racers take those off anyway because you can't trust them. That gear is actually plastic which is bound to fail and then your engine won't be getting any oil. I have a 2002 DXII now but I still love the OB wake, especially backwards.
I saw on another thread that you are willing to help out with Nationals. Give me a call and we can talk about what we all have to do and what you think you can help with. Also let me know if you need somewhere to stay, I live 5 minutes from the site and we can ski in my backyard.

Sounds good, send me a PM with your number and the best time to call. I am still planning on coming to Nationals and helping out with whatever I can (I might even ski as well). I am glad that I did not buy a ticket to TX yet. Also, I might be looking for a place to stay depending on whether or not the rest of my family decides to come with me.
As for my motor I was surprised that the oil injection was still operating when I bought the boat. I bought it last July and it had 430 hours on it; the previous owner and just replaced the warning sensor computer the previous season (it had not been working in about 2 years) I am glad he did because if the alarm had not gone off I would have never known that the pump had failed until I locked up the motor.

Ya, Atwater is about a 2 hour drive from me. Maybe when my boat goes down to Modesto for ProFlight to throw a tower on it in a couple months get out down there and do some footin.
