Is there even such a thing?
It has come up in many discussions with my barefoot buddies, but can one 'officially'. Could we host it as a 'Fun' class tournament?

Do non-US countries host show-ski tournaments?

It should be possible to put on a shoe ski tournament that is sanctioned by the USAWS through the ABC and just call it an experimental format and make the exception to the rule that require barefeet... You would be conforming to all of the other ABC rules so why not?????
AA Region rules...Its hard to be humble when you're this good

In Canada we run a shoe ski jump division in most tournaments to get skiers used to the format of the event and promote more skiers learning to jump. No medals in that event yet, but lots of skiers, and the scores obviously don't for rankings but no one seems to care.

I have been thinking on this for a while now and would like to toss out this suggestion for consideration/debate.

This would not be a "Tournament" but more like a friendly challenge between footers of all ages, all abilities and from around the world too.

We could use Youtube as the venue... film yourself making a trick run, both passes, and post it up on your account for all to see, critique, accept, reject or whatever.  Ski on bare feet or shoes... longline or the boom or all of the above.  After all, we know which is easy versus harder and can give the highest props to those who can perform tricks behind the boat on the short pole... Wink

The main thing is I believe we could all improve our own skills by pushing ourselves to complete trick runs under the time limit.  It could also help other skiers who are still learning by watching those higher level footers.  I've heard about the camaraderie at tournys but having never attended, have never experienced it.  I suspect it just might be possible to extend that a bit through the web...

Now if your thinking to your self this sounds familiar... it could be?  Just take a look the the Master's Challenge over on BFC.

Great idea they have going and I like it for the many reasons listed, but it's not open to shoe skis...
I have spent many hours watching those skiers videos from 500 points through 11,000.  Enjoy them tremendously and feel I have learned by watching them also.  It could be very cool to be able to watch the rest of us perform those same kind of runs as well Smile

I don't mind if you submit your videos to the Masters Challenge on Shoes.  I agreee they would be good to watch.  I can just modify the certificate and prizes for that category.  Chuck...BFC

Get your ski buddies together and go do a shos ski tournament next time out. No need to sanction it, video it or even time it. Post the results on the beer fridge for all to view until next time.

Back in 1990 = 1992 my ski buddies and I had tournaments every second week. Anyone that happened to be in the boat that day was obligated to ski in it an their scores got posted on the fridge.

This is back before anyone felt the need to video every set and pass it around the world to make it "Authentic".

Training aids for Barefoot Skiing. A little bigger than a pair of running shoes with a symetrical sole about 4" wide and and inch or so longer than the shoe at each end.  Most today have an dive/beach type shoe on them.

OK then... I will go first!

This link will take you directly to a playlist I created on my YouTube Channel.  I started adding videos of my trick runs recently.  After watching them feel free to leave comments and vote thumbs up or down if you think the run would count or not.

I have some work to do on my tumble turns, obviously, and will re-shoot those trick runs that were over the time limit the next time I get a chance.  But, to illustrate what my earlier post was getting at I will leave them up for now.

Now, C'mon... get out there and film your own trick runs, then post em up so we can see them also!
